The Friday Flyer | So much to do, so much to see

Happy Friday readers, how was your week? Are you surviving the heat? It’s been a hot one, but it looks like we may get some cooler temperatures over the next week, fingers crossed.

I will say though, something about the intense heat rewards us with the most beautiful sunsets. At least I think so.

Something about the sunsets here in the lake are amazing. Sitting outside at the Lodge, having a drink, watching the sunset, seeing the boats glide through the glistening waters, makes me appreciate how precious time is. I’m a romantic by nature, so sunsets are priceless to me.

Someone told me when I first moved to the lake, “get a golf cart and just cruise around, you’ll be happy you did.” Those words by that stranger ring ever so true.

Sometimes when I’m feeling tense, I hop on the cart and turn my music up and just drive around. I’ll stop sometimes at the different beaches and watch families enjoying the evening. As I cross the causeway, I can’t help but smile when I see boats on Eastbay, just stopped before the tunnel, and people are just floating around, enjoying the peacefulness of being in the water.

When I’m cruising around and I stop by the Lodge, I love watching the kids enjoy the playground, laughing, climbing and playing chase without a care in the world. It makes me appreciate how fortunate we are to live in a place where our children can feel safe.

My cares seem to slip away by the time I make my way around the lake. Passersby wave as they enjoy their time on their golf carts, too. I wonder if they are feeling like me, at peace with the calmness that surrounds us within the gates of Canyon Lake.

I had a friend come over and ask me how I could stand the noise of Indian Beach, especially since it’s literally in my backyard. I told her, I love the “noise.” To me, however, it’s not noise, it’s people living their best life at the moment.

What I love about lake life is that there’s so much to do without having to go anywhere. Kids and parents cruise around on their electric bikes, feeling the wind against their faces. Little ones laughing as they cruise down the hills on the back of mom or dad’s bike, not even realizing the memories that will forever be ingrained in their hearts.

Lake life to me is choosing to sit on my balcony, watching the crowds of family and friends enjoy Indian Beach. It’s taking a walk and actually talking to my neighbors, or cruising around on my golf cart, occasionally stopping at a beach and meeting someone new. It’s going to the Lodge and meeting friends, or going to a concert by way of a golf cart. Lake life is whatever you make it out to be.

Well guys, I’ll be saying goodbye for now. I hope you enjoy your weekend with all the things going on. Be safe and don’t forget to Love Lake Life.
