MIAMI — The Philadelphia 76ers took a tough loss in Game 1 of the East semifinals on Monday as they fell to the Miami Heat 106-92. They trailed by as many as 21 and the Heat just made life extremely tough on a Sixers team missing Joel Embiid at the moment.

Philadelphia couldn’t get into any type of offensive rhythm and they shot a miserable 6-for-34 from deep. Danny Green, Tyrese Maxey, and Georges Niang combined to shoot just 2-for-18 from deep on the night.

However, Tobias Harris played well scoring 27 points on 11-for-18 shooting with six rebounds on the night. James Harden needs to play better, but he would have had a bigger impact if the Sixers just made the open shots he generated for them.

As they prepare for Game 2 on Wednesday, Harris and the Sixers see some positives.

“This is a confident group, a confident team. This is the playoffs. We don’t go out there expecting to lose a game. For us in the locker room, we gotta get better and get back to Game 2 and be ready to get a W. That’s how we approach it. A tough game for us tonight, but there’s things that we know we can be better at in Game 2 to help us get a victory.

“They shot 43 percent. That’s the positive, but they still scored 106 because they had more shots. Very similar to the Toronto series in that we told our guys, they can’t have more rebounds than us. They can’t force turnovers because they can’t have more shots than us. We’re working with a small margin of error, so we can’t give a team 13 extra shots on the road without Joel and think we’re going to win a game.”

Harris: “We shot 6-for-34 from 3.”

Harden: “Obviously, we’re not trying to miss shots, but the things that we can control is rebounding the basketball and not turning the basketball over. That’s things we can control and once we do that next game, we’ll have a better chance at winning. We let one slip away. Now, we get ready for Game 2.”

“Just attacking some of the smaller guards that they have, making them switch, and then getting downhill so that was working and just being aggressive. A lot of those baskets came from stops that we got on the other end so just letting our defense fuel our offense, push the pace. That’s something we can go to in the next game if it’s there, but at the same time when we did get those stops we were really good at getting the ball out and getting out in transition and just running.”
