Magnifying Glass

Wardlow has been going full tilt since becoming the TNT Champion, and tonight will get another huge challenger during the early days of his reign. He defeated Orange Cassidy in his first defence, and earned respect in the process – so when Jay Lethal threatened to cripple Cassidy, Wardlow came to his aid and accepted the title shot of Lethal. While he’s not been the biggest name in AEW, Lethal is a former World Champion in Ring of Honor, and one of the best in the world. Wardlow can’t overlook his challenger, because one Lethal Injection will end his reign.

With Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh in his corner, Lethal wasn’t alone in tonight fight. He’d slip to the floor as the bell rang, getting some advice before trying to lock up with Wardlow. Dutt ran a distraction, allowing Lethal to hit from behind and set up the snap suplex. Wardlow would easily get back to his feet, and would send Lethal to the floor.

Signh would distract Wardlow, allowing Lethal to slip into the ring to hit the baseball slide dropkick. Wardlow would take the enziguri, before catching Lethal with a tilt-a-whirl slam. Lethal would feign injury, and used this to get a roll up on Wardlow – but only got a one count. An overzealous Wardlow would try to charge into Lethal, but hit the ring post.

Wardlow rolled to the floor, and Lethal kept the pressure on with a suicide dive. Lethal would attack the knee, bending it around the steel of the ring post. Elbow drops would set up the leg lock, before Wardlow would strike his way free.

Wardlow would almost set up a powerbomb, before Lethal slipped free and kicked him in the leg. Lethal Injection would be blocked, but Lethal avoided three separate powerbomb attempts. Wardlow would nail the lariat, and followed up with the powerbomb for the win.

After the bell, Dutt & Singh would beat down Wardlow, and Singh is someone that even Wardlow looks small next to. He’d press the boot down on the neck of Wardlow, and Lethal would get some extra damage in with the figure four leg lock. It’s clear this issue is far from over – and Wardlow would hit the low blow on Singh before looking for the powerbomb and being foiled.

Lethal & Dutt would set up a table, and Singh would chokeslam Wardlow right through. Are we on the path to Wardlow vs. Singh? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
